Easton Turns 5!

I just don't know how it happened. How did this cute little baby grow up so fast? He has the best eyes… doesn't he?

Here is our spunky little 5 year old today! He will always be our little Easton. I did however find out he's actually not that little. At his check up he weighed 42 pounds 60% and was 44 1/4 inches tall 75%.   Easton will always be our strong willed stubborn child. However just when you think you can't handle him anymore he knows just how to put on his charm and cuddle in. He's got the cutest laugh and loves to be tickled. Easton we are truly blessed to have you in our lives.

When I asked the birthday boy how he wanted to spend his day he told me skiing. So off to the ski hill we went.

He asked if he could have another lesson when we got there. Because it was a Monday, private lessons were our only option and I have to admit it was way better. He got one on one attention and the instructor even took him to the chair lift to practice that too.

Here they are working on the little hill.

Going down a green circle rated hill...

He was learning so much about controlling his skis and turning.

Such a little peanut out on the hill. It was a perfect day as there was hardly anyone out.

We are finally able to ride the chair lift together without me having to lift him up.

Once he got the hang of going down the hill there was no stopping him.

He got to pick where we had his birthday dinner. He picked Postmark Grill because they give the kids dough balls while you wait for their food. This is not a good picture of him but the only one I got. He was enjoying his bottle of root beer.

Afterwards we got ice cream for dessert.

After dinner and dessert we headed home for presents….

Why when you ask the kids to show you what they got must they always hold the present right in front of their face?

We didn't get to play all of the games at his birthday party so we finished the night off with pin the football in the field goal.

I HATE when this happens. Nolan refuses to nap but then sometimes he falls asleep around 5:30 pm. It's too late in the evening for a nap but to early to go to bed. This particular night we put him to bed early, and then he ended up with the dreaded 2.5 hour nap. We laid him back down later in the evening, but he wasn't tired and ended sitting up with Ryan watching the Blackhawks game until 10:30!

We said good bye to our ginger bread house but the kids still wanted a fort. So it was time to get creative….

They now have their own army forts with tunnels that connect them all together.

Saturday was a nice day for pond hockey.

Maybe Nolan could use some bigger long underwear!

Only two days until Ryan and I leave for paradise. Nolan is not happy and thinks we are going to Mexico without him. He was trying to sneak into my suitcase.

Instead of watching the  start of the Super Bowl the boys hung out at open skate for awhile after practice. They pretty much had the rink to themselves.

Our little family super bowl party.

There will be no post next Sunday as we will be gone on our trip. The boys will be having fun with Grandma and Grandpa while we are gone. We are looking forward to a break from the every day routine but we're going to miss those little boys!
