Our Crazy Life!: Survivor Cancun!

This week was all about survival. How would we survive the flights, who was the next to get sick and how were we going to survive the craziness of 5 little ones?

The first challenge was the flight down. We were surprised by my parents with upgraded seats to first class! The challenging part was moving through the airport with all the kids and our luggage. We got a lot of looks from other people traveling. The boys did decent on the flight down. They were a little busy moving from seat to seat and Easton didn't like that he had to sit with his seat belt on.

The next challenge of the week was to stay healthy. First one out was Spencer as he left with pink eye. Grandma caught that from him. The night we got there Nolan started to get sick with a fever and difficult breathing. His breathing continued to get worse until finally I called back to the states and it was suggested we bring him to a doctor. Thankfully our resort has an in house doctor that my family has gotten to know well over the years! Nolan was given a few nebulizer treatments, a shot of antibiotics in his butt and medicine to take over the week. Heather's family (Patrick, Finley and Hadley) all came down with the flu and took their turns hanging out in their villa. Finally about mid week Easton's ear started draining and I knew he had an ear infection. So that leaves Grandpa, Heather, Ryan and myself that stayed healthy! Four out of eleven, not good!

Besides going out to dinner once this week, the guys went golfing, the ladies hit the spa and a few of the boys went to a water park. Our days and evenings were pretty much spent at the resort. We moved from the pool to the beach and did our best to keep all of the kids entertained. We usually had our lunch pool side. Easton and Nolan took a few naps up in the room. If the boys weren't sleeping we had dinner around the resort. Here are the pictures that we took through out the week.....

We are thankful the Twite family joined us on our trip. Their boys were great in keeping our boys entertained. They played many games of football in the pool and the beach.

Every week the resort has a welcome party. They play music and games.

Heather and I both learned a tough lesson. Neither one of us thought we were in the sun that much on the first day because we were busy with the kids but we both got burned. The rest of the week we were more careful with sunscreen. I must say I have the worst tan ever. It's hard putting sunscreen on the kids and not get any of it on yourself.

The Nemo squirt guns. They seemed like a good idea but they were the cause of a few poolside fights. Auntie created the "safe zone" if you were sitting on the steps so the others couldn't squirt you. The other rule was if you were going to spray others they get to spray you back.

With his life jacket on, Spencer swam all over and enjoyed the indepence of being able to go where he wanted.

The fun in the sun finally caught up to Spencer and Simon so they both crashed on the lawn chairs.

Only a few times has this ever happened..... Easton actually fell asleep sitting up!

Grandma brought a kite. Only I hear it didn't go so well.

I got to give Hadley a pedi. Every girl needs painted toes for vacation.

Both Hadley and Nolan spent a lot of time in their strollers.

Spencer spent so much time in the pool his hands were like prunes.

Every night Spencer would crash around 7:00 pm. Easton on the other hand would have partied all night long if we would have let him. Ryan and I are pretty sure he was the last one awake in our room a few nights.

Easton cracked me up with his many looks. He LOVED his sunglasses and life jackets.

We had to find other ways to keep Nolan entertained.

The boys visited the resort playground and rec center.

The resort has lots of activities for the kids. They had a pinata party, face painting, t-shirt painting, beach soccer and on the last day a pirate treasure hunt!

We had a "Dancing with the Stars" pizza party. While we watch the new dancers the little boys took in a movie on the bed.

We watched the Badgers play.

Spencer wanted to see the spot where he fell last year and got his first set of stitches.

As I mentioned we did venture out one night for dinner.

I could have done without our trip home. We were already leaving later then normal but when we checked in at the airport we were told our flight was 2+ hours delayed. So we had 5+ hours to burn in the Mexican airport. Thankfully I was able to grab more formula out of our suitcase but we were on the hunt for extra diapers. The boys did great taking walks and having treats while we waited. Finally it was time to fly home. Spencer and Nolan slept almost the entire flight home and Easton played in his seat until he crashed with an hour and half left. Once we got to the car Ryan realized we had a dead car battery so we had to wait to be jumped putting us home just before 1:00 am. Our bed has never felt so good as it did that night. I was very impressed with how the boys were on the way home with all the waiting we had to do!

The biggest thing that happened while we were gone.... Spencer turned 4! We had a Mexican fiesta for him with dancing, pinata, balloon swards and cake. Thank you to my family and Twites for helping us celebrate!

Spencer has a major fear of characters. We had no idea but the resort planned for what I think was a cheetah/tiger to show up. While his brothers gave it a high five he hid in the corner with Ryan.

Happy Birthday to our special boy! Spencer continues to be the sweetest little boy. He loves his family and friends and always wants to be a helper. He LOVES anything sports related and tells us he's going to be a sports player when he grows up. He also has a very competitive side. He's learning to write his name and loves reading stories that he has memorized to us. He can sweet talk me into just about anything with his big blue eyes. We Love You Spencer! Happy 4th Birthday!
