Hello From Texas!

I will fast forward during the week and go straight to the weekend. We were heading to Texas to visit Grandma John and Grandma Julie and there's been a heat advisory out for Texas all week. I think next year we will avoid the summer months and come down in January when we can take a break from the cold!
We flew out on Thursday afternoon. To start, everything was going wrong that morning that there was a part of me that was scared to get on the plane. I woke up Thursday with a fever of 103.5. I had started to not feel very well on Wednesday night so I thought I should run into the minute clinic and make sure it wasn't strep or an ear infection before getting on a plane full of people. While I was getting ready to leave I was looking for my purse and it was no where to be found. Knowing that I last had it at Target in Woodbury, I made a panicked phone call and sure enough someone had turned it in. Now the question, what would still be left in my purse. I found out that I didn't have strep and that it was probably just viral. On our way to the airport we had to stop at Target to get my purse. I'm happy to say there are still good people in this world because everything was in my purse.

We decided we wouldn't tell Spencer where we were going and that we were going to take a plane ride. I knew we were going to be "that" family trying to go through security. I tired to have everything out and ready to go and luckily the airport wasn't busy so we didn't feel rushed. We made our way to the gate only to find out things were delayed. Doesn't the air lines understand I've been planning my childs feeding around take off and I don't think I can't push it any longer! So I ended up feeding Easton before we even got on the plane. To keep Spencer busy Ryan and him walked up and down the moving sidewalk.

The seats on the plane where two by two. Ryan sat with Spencer on one side and Easton and I sat on the other and we actually got both seats to ourselves. Both boys were alseep before we even took off. Of course we sat on the runway for a while so Spencer only slept about 15 minutes into the actual flight, but Easton slept the whole time. My fever started to spike again while we were on the plane and I could hardly control my shivers/chills. There was a part of me that couldn't wait to get to Texas so I be in the heat to warm up. It was awful! Spencer was pretty good only getting antsy a few times on the flight. We brought a lot of things to entertain him. I would say our first plane ride as a family of 4 was a success.

We spent most of the weekend hanging around the house in Dallas. Spencer had fun exploring his new surroundings. Here are pictures from our weekend away.

Spencer had his first ice cream cone.

Spencer got to feed the fish and ducks with Grandpa and Uncle JB...

They took Spencer to visit a park that also had water fountians to play in...

We spent a lot of time around the pool. It was VERY hot in Texas!

Even Easton took his first dip in the pool....
Ryan said he's worked hard on his tan line all summer long
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for a great trip!
I'm sure Spencer will be talking about swimming in their pool for a long time!

The boys get pretty excited for the month of August. That means the start of football. To get Spencer excited Ryan showed him a present he's been holding onto for awhile. Since Ryan hasn't had the chance to get Spencer an Aaron Rodgers' jersey, Ryan decided to use this opportunity to put a Green Bay "hex" on Brett!

6 Months Old!

Helping cut strawberries for our salad.
We started a potty chart this week for Spencer. They started one at school so we thought we would do the same here. He's been doing really well and even pooped on the potty 2x at daycare this week!

We started our week off with a couple of play dates. On Monday the boys and I headed over to play with Jill, Gavin and Miss Maddie! Maddie and Easton pretty much slept through the whole play date while Spencer and Gavin ran around. They played in the bounce house, pool, swing and then they even played a little game of baseball. Spencer thinks Gavin's house is GREAT with all the different toys!

On Tuesday we joined my friend Missy with her little boy Liam at Teddy Bear park. It was so HOT out that Spencer was just sweating. So, he thought laying in the sand would be a great idea. To say he was covered in sand was an understatement. Needless to say I brushed off as much as I could but we went home and got straight in the tub! Both boys had an early bath that day.

Easton turned 6 months old on Monday! Seriously where did that time go? That little boy just melts my heart with those big blue eyes and his big opened mouth smile. We are really starting to see his personality more and more. He's a pretty laid back baby, but when he sees something he wants he will do whatever it takes to reach it. For example, his bottle. When I'm holding it he will grab on and bring it right to his mouth if I'm not moving fast enough for him. EVERYTHING goes into his mouth. If he can get his hands on it, it will go straight into his mouth. He loves his feet and teething toys. He can sit on his own for about 15 seconds before falling over. We have worked our way through all of the fruits and veggies. He gets cereal with fruit or veggies 2 times a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. He's been a great sleeper at night and I'm trying to transition him into the 2 naps a day. He typically takes a couple of cat naps in the morning but has been taking one long nap in the afternoon. The best part is he typically naps the same time Spencer does. I'm excited to see how he changes over the next 6 months!

Notice a small hand in the lower corner also trying to get a puff....
I introduced puffs to Easton this week. He had a hard time getting them in his mouth but got a few in.
We also gave him a sippy cup to try. He's pretty good at bringing it to his mouth.
Working on standing. When Spencer saw this picture he wasn't to sure of Easton playing with his toys when he wasn't looking!

6 Months Old!

This weekend we took the boys to see Thomas the Train. It's called "A Day Out With Thomas." Let me recap how much fun this was for us. I got in line to wait for Sir Topham Hat while Spencer and Ryan played on toys. Spencer never did get to meet him Sir Topham Hat because it was time to board the train. The train was hotter then hot since their air conditioner was broke. So basically we sat for a 30 minute train ride listening to parents complain and children fuss (Easton included) because we were all hot. After the train ride Ryan and I made the decision not to go back into the madness but to just head home. All in all Spencer was excited to see Thomas and still asks to see the pictures that we took of Thomas but we will not be returning next year!

We are off to Dallas, TX next week and due to the busy weekend we have planned, the blog post will be late. I will try to post by Monday but I'm not making any promises!
