Big Boy Bed!

I knew it wouldn't be long before Spencer would transition into his big boy bed, but did he seriously have to pick Mother's Day to do it?!?!? Everything was going normal, Spencer and Ryan were cuddling downstairs, Spencer said his goodnights and it was off to bed. Ryan had been out of his room for a minute when we heard a thump thump and a knock on the other side of his door...Spencer was out of his crib! I went in, picked him up, said goodnight, put him back in his crib and walked out. This process repeated about 20 times; each time he cried and screamed a little bit harder.  And to top it off, Spencer learned to open doors during all of this. He can now turn his doorknob to get out! So there I was, holding Spencer's door closed while he was banging and screaming, "Cuddle momma!" from the other side! I held his door closed (with him inside) in hopes he'd tire out a little. I reached out for support from other moms and called my mom, unfortunately she was busy so Grandpa supported me through this difficult situation. Grandpa first said to go in and cuddle him. Even though I REALLY wanted to, I knew it wouldn't help in the long run.  Finally my dad said I was doing the right thing, everything would be OK and keep strong. Thanks Dad for your support!  Are you wondering where Ryan was?  He was at the store.  I think in every relationship there is a tough one and a soft one.  For us, I tend to be the tough one because I want to avoid future issues/problems, and Ryan hates listening to the cries.  Spencer did finally give in, he went to sleep with me standing next to the crib.
Spencer would tire himself out and fall asleep in front of the door, you can see his two feet in this picture.
After listening to him fall/jump out of the crib, it was time to put his big boy bed together. As much as this excited me (I love his big boy bedding and have been waiting to finish his room), I was also really sad. It's officially saying that he is no longer your little baby. Thursday morning Spencer woke up at 5:10 looking for a snack. He went back to bed in our bed and I got busy finding the parts to his new bed and washing his bedding.  Once he got up again we got busy building!

Needless to say, for the past week I have dreaded bedtime. Ryan started helping out and things got better as the week went on. Thursday was his first night in his big boy bed, and he only got out of it 2 times!  He knows the routine though - when he got out and saw me on the other side, he turned around and went right back to his bed. On Friday night he didn't get out once!! So far Spencer has stayed in his bed overnight, but in the mornings as soon as he wakes, he's out and looking for us. These days it seems Easton is sleeping longer then Spencer  - Easton is up to 11 hours straight at night!

First time sleeping in his big boy bed!!

Wednesday we took Spencer to his first baseball game!  The MN Twins built a new stadium and it's called Target Field. Ryan has been super excited to go a game in the new stadium; so for an early Father's Day present, the boys and I gave Ryan tickets to a game. Poor Easton is too little, so he spent the day shopping with Grandma. I'm not sure who was more excited about Spencer's first game...Ryan or Spencer?!?!

The view from our seats...
...taking it all in....

...and you can't go to a baseball game without eating a hot dog!

It was so cold we had to wear our winter stuff, at least it didn't rain!
Easton supported the Twins, even if he couldn't go to the game.

We had a play date with Jill and Gavin on Thursday. It was raining out so we took the boys to the Giggle Factory.  Everyone had the same idea, it was pretty busy. The crowd didn't stop the boys from having fun and burning energy! Spencer gets very excited to play with Gavin and asks about him often. He was so tired after playing that he fell asleep eating his lunch and I have NEVER seen him do that before. I guess that's what happens when you get up so early!

This weekend Ryan headed to sunny Las Vegas for 4 days, so we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. First we stopped to visit Auntie and Finley, Auntie was hosting a shower for her friend Melissa, so the boys played downstairs.

That evening Auntie and Finley came over to play at Grandma and Grandpa's with us. The boys ate pizza, took a bath, and played outside.

On Sunday, we took the boys on their first pontoon ride of the season.  They had fun taking turns driving with Grandpa and waving at the other boaters. Since Ryan will be out of town until late Tuesday and I have to work Monday-Wednesday, Grandma offered to keep the boys Sunday night and bring them home on Monday. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to having the house to myself and a full night's sleep!

Grandma got a (fake) puppy for the boys to play with, they took their time checking it out before getting too close!
Easton is 3 1/2 months old already! We try not to compare him to Spencer because we know they are two very different boys - but really, that's all we know. I use this blog to reference back to when Spencer hit certain milestones. I looked back to see what Spencer was doing at 3 1/2 months, and he was HUGE in comparison to Easton. Spencer had grown out of his infant bathtub, however Easton is still using the infant sling in the bath tub. I tried giving Easton a bath without it and he just about drowned! I think Easton is going to be my little peanut. He's not very good at tummy time but loves to sit in his bumbo and we've even tried the exersaucer. Looking back at Spencer's blog, it also shows me that Easton no longer looks nearly as much like Spencer, although they did in the beginning!

We have the BEST Auntie ever!  She's so smart, pretty, and nice, we LOVE her soooooo much!
