Easton has noticed that some of the older boys that live around us don't have training wheels on their bikes. One evening he begged me to take his off. I kept saying "maybe when dad gets home" knowing Ryan wouldn't be home until later that evening and hopefully he would give up on the idea. Nope, as soon as Ryan walked in he Easton asked again. So, there they were after bath time out in the canyon so Easton could attempt riding his bike without the training wheels. He got nervous, scared and was unsure. He tried a few times but he still needs to work on his balance and steering. He tends to be more fearful and shy. I'm guessing by next summer they will be off again for good.
He practiced going down the hill and actually did quite well doing it this way
He did do it and will brag to everyone that he did. Now if we could just get him to try again.
Spencer was going to be gone later in the week so we sent him to camp even though I was home with the other boys. I think it will be an adjustment for Spencer once school starts knowing that there are days when his brothers don't have to go to their school. We have a lot of fun most of the time on our stay home days. There's are part of me that feels bad that he will get to miss out on our activities.
But going to Target is WAY easier with only 2!
Gavin got to come hang out with us one afternoon after his farm camp. I think sometimes Easton plays better with Spencer's friends then Spencer does. Easton will go along with any ideas they have and is excited to have friends to play with. I cas see this being an issue when they are 10 and Spencer's crying because his friends all want to play with Easton. Maybe they will have similar friends and it won't matter. Lets hope for that!
We had National Night Out this week. All the neighbors got together to grill and spend time outside. We also got to meet a few new neighbors down at the end of the other cul-de-sac. One of them has a little boy that will be in the same class as Spencer.
This is trouble! Nolan now knows how to drive the jeep. He still needs work on how to steer.
Auntie, Grandma, Finley and Hadley came up for the day. Our plan was to go to the zoo. I realized how busy and packed the zoo was so our plans changed. We took Finley and Hadley to Underwater world at the mall of america.
It's pretty neat as you walk through a tunnel and all the fish, sharks and other creepy creatures are swimming around you.
This face made me laugh.... and kind of creep me out.
They had a Finding Nemo fish tank.
After a busy lunch we took the kids to check out the rides.
First it was the bumper cars.
Then it was the fly boat.... basically they just drop them straight down.
Finley was nervous and unsure at first but you can tell from their faces they LOVED it!
They did Blues Clues ride.
I wanted to take Nolan and Easton in the hot air balloon ride but Nolan did not want to go. He preferred to sit in the stroller with Grandma. I see now that Nolan may be more like Ryan and not care for the rides.
Heather and I took Finley on his first real roller coaster. Finley picked to sit with me. We were both surprised how much he liked it. We also enjoyed the ride.
We finished off with the carousel. Again Nolan wouldn't come on.
Spencer got to go on a fun over night trip to the Dells with Grandma and Grandpa this week. Easton was missing Spencer though and wanted to FaceTime.
Spencer, Finley, Grandma and Grandpa all headed for the Dells for non stop (I'm serious, I got a picture text at 11:30 pm of them playing water bumper cars) fun. They took a ride on the Ducks, went to a water ski show, played mini golf (both little boys got a hole in one), swam, went to a zoo, did a rope obstacle course and had meals at some pretty fun restaurants. Thanks mom and dad for taking the boys on a fun trip.
Ryan and I enjoyed remembering what it was like when we only had 2. We went to DQ for ice cream one night with the neighbors to help raise money for the Children's hospital. We did however realize quickly, we did still have the busiest two of the group!
The boys got to make their own pizzas for dinner on Friday.
Saturday was a big day for Ryan. He ran his first 5k race. We did it with 2 other couples and it was a lot of fun. We all run at different speeds. After the race was over we celebrated and had brunch. I also think Ryan was bitten by the running bug. He enjoyed running in the race and is already talking about next year's.
We had dinner at a friends house later that evening.
People are probably tired of my sleeping kid pictures but I just think they are so strange. Do other kids sleep everywhere but their beds?
and then end up under them in the AM?
I found one of their hiding spots. In the fire place! A car got stuck on the outside and when I went to get it out I noticed a few DVDs that had been shoved in there.
Their new goal is to see if they can get all of their rockets on the roof.
At least one of the boys is a helper when it comes to picking up.
Your legs seems like a great place for 20 stickers. Until you have to rip them off!
Spencer was afraid of monsters under his bed one night. So him and Ryan came up with a little plan. They put the army men on duty and he also has two sticks in his bed. If you look closely at the picture you will see Spencer's head under his blanket. Whatever works to make him feel comfortable.
