The transition happened. Spencer left daycare and started at the Y for summer camp. I didn't realize how comfortable I was with them going to daycare each day and how NERVOUS I was for him to go to camp. We are now responsible for packing him breakfast, lunch and snacks. I was nervous if I packed enough food, if he would be able to put on sunscreen, if he would listen to the new counselors and if he would have fun. I got a text from a friend after she had dropped off her son that Spencer was doing well and was excited to see her son. On the last day of camp this week it was hard drop off. Spencer didn't want to let go of my leg and was tearful. Change can be hard. I also think he was WAY over tired as he's not used to all the new activity.
His lunch was packed the night before and ready to go....
Only at camp he forgot he had a lunch an didn't touch any of it! Apparently he didn't eat all of his breakfast and ate some of the left overs for lunch and his snack. We did lots of reviewing of where things would be for the next day!
Easton was excited about being the older brother at school now. He took Nolan to his classroom and went straight to his to have breakfast.
Grandma and Grandpa came up for t-ball. I can honestly say I'm ready for t-ball to be over!
Grandma and Grandpa along with Auntie, Finley and Hadley also came up for soccer this week.
It was Spencer's last night and they got medals.
Ryan brought Nolan to Easton's soccer camp.
You will often find nightly baseball or basketball games going on in our cul-de-sac. Spencer playing outfield while the dads play.
Such a happy boy!
This is when I decide I wish I had someone to drive me around. Maybe then I could also get caught up on my lack of sleep!
The biggest event of the week. Spencer got his tonsil and adenoids taken out. I was nervous for how he would do. I didn't think he would recover as well as Easton did. He's older and not as stubborn as Easton. We gave him some new pjs the night before. He got to pick out a pair to wear to the hospital the next day and the rest for while he recovered.
He was not excited that morning. Kept saying "I don't want to have surgery!"
Trying to put on a happy face but insisted on sitting on my lap the whole time.
We gave him a get well gift....
It's amazing what a little sedation medication can do. Spencer was given versed before going back. He told us he we each had 2 heads and 4 eyes. He also liked the pulse ox on his finger because it would light up.
When reviewing the pain scale with Spencer she said the blue face meant you were happy and that you didn't have any pain. The red face was if you are having a lot of pain. She asked him what he thought the green/yellow face meant and he said "that you need a popsicle."
He wasn't very thrilled when he returned to the room. He told the nurse before going that he wanted an orange popsicle. Well they didn't have any orange in their unit. He was yelling on the cart on the way back to the room "I want an orange popsicle, they said I could have a popsicle!" Needless to say a volunteer was sent looking for an orange popsicle.
Surgery was hard on both of us!
If you've been around him lately you've had the pleasure to see this picture below. I have no idea of those are bigger than normal but they look like potatoes.
Recovery is going well. Day one we played games...
Did a little skateboarding...
Took a nap....
Attempted a movie. He begged and said that we should since he had just had surgery. Needless to say he didn't last for the whole thing.
We went back to and finished off the box of pushups while going for a walk.
I thought this was funny. I was making rice krispies for Finley and as I was pouring out the mini marshmallow bag a large one popped out!
Why ways I making rice crisps?! Because Finley was having his first lemonade stand.
Grandma took Nolan to help me out while Ryan was gone this weekend. He went to a Brewers game. So I took the older boys to the MN zoo. We started out at the petting zoo....
Next we went to the dinosaur exhibit. They loved it.
Easton was scared of them at first. Finally when he saw this dinosaur he agreed that I could take his picture.
We fed the giraffes....
Its was a great day!
Today we went with friends to see Monster University...
I agrued with Easton for about 5 minutes about what to wear today. Finally I gave up and walked away. When he came out he was happy and wearing this. Sometimes its easier to give in.
Afterwards we needed to burn off some energy so off to the beach we went.
Spencer thinks this wheat thin looks like home base.....
We ran into a friend from high school and her son.
My life with boys pictures:
Everywhere we go if there are rocks we are sure to bring one or two home with us. I think I owe the Y about a wheel barrel full of rocks.
They find dead animals on the bath interesting/cool....
If it's quiet you better go looking! You just never know what you will find!
