What's New With The Boys?

Grandma Nancy sent the boys a package. Spencer loves to get stuff in the mail.

Let me get you caught up on the new things the boys are doing.......

Spencer: He keeps us very busy. He's talking a ton now and saying things that we didn't even know he knew the words or meanings for. The other night when Ryan was going downstairs with Easton, Spencer was following behind and he yells to Ryan "wait a second dad!" He asked me in the car if he could wear his hat backwards while trying to turn his hat around he then informed me that Uncle JB wears his hat backwards. Uncle JB has been in Texas since the start of May so how he remembered that or even thought of that surprised me. He knows all of the core colors, can sing about 3-5 songs, he knows most animals, and can identifly any type of sport being played. A few times when I was flipping through the channels to find something to watch on TV he asked to watch golf. I think the only one that will be happy about that is Ryan and Grandpa! He can count and say most of his ABC's. He can also count in Spanish up to 5. Unfortuntately I didn't do very well in Spanish so I don't know too many other things to teach him.
He is teaching Easton his colors with his lollipops from school.
Spencer will be moving up to the next room in day care. I'm happy and sad about this move. I'm happy because he will be with his best friends Sam and "Sammer." I'm also excited because with the new room comes new things to learn. They will be working on Spanish more with them and taking things to the next level. I'm sad because he will be leaving one of my favorite teachers, Miss Katie. She's been a great teacher and Spencer just seemed to love her. I'm also sad because there are only 2 more rooms for him to move into and hen he will be starting school. So I just realize how old he really is getting!

His favorite things to do are: playing outside. It doesn't matter what he's doing. If he's swinging, playing baseball, swimming in his pool or playing in the dirt, if he's outside he's happy. He LOVES to read books. His favorite book right now is one of his nursery rhyme books because he knows most of them and likes to sing along.
Our little artist
He takes painting very seriously
He's been a pretty good eater these days. He still has his favorites...... cheeseburgers, mac and cheese, pancakes, tacos or as he would say "I love tacos!"
Out to dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe.
I was going to write what a good sleeper he's been and how putting him to bed has been pretty easy but of course as I write this he's currently going down for a nap and has gotten out once and is now in his room crying. So for the most part he's been good with bedtime and sleeping in later.

We are still working on the potty training. He only gets to wear a diaper at night. I send him to day care in the morning with a pull up on only because we know he poops 2x a day. Once in the morning after breakfast and once around dinner time. You would think knowing that we would be able to get him to go on the potty but nope we are still having troubles with that. A few times this week he started to go and then told me and he finished on the toilet. Otherwise he is in underwear all day and hasn't had an accident for at least a week now!

He definitely continues to amaze us each and every day. I'm just amazed at how much he knows already at 2! He is a great big brother and still loves Easton and is very protective of him and me. He is constantly saying "my momma or my Easton."

So what's new with Easton....

Easton is a VERY happy baby. Most people that have been around him will describe him as being very content. Everyone also comments on his pretty blue eyes and his long eye lashes.
He's also changing each and every day. He definitely doesn't have the new baby look anymore and instead he's getting that roly poly baby look. Hiss hair is coming in and I think it's going to be a lot like Spencer's. It's going to be blonde but we'll see if it has the reddish tint to it.

Things that Easton likes to do are: put everything in his mouth. If he gets his hands on it, it's going into his mouth. He's my grabber and my drooler. His tongue is always hanging out and anything within reach is fair game. When he gets excited or is happy about something he starts kicking his legs up and down really fast. He loves taking long naps in his swing and playing in his excersaucer. He's rolling over a lot now and I saw him roll once from his back to his belly.... that one arm just keeps getting in the way. He can also sit on his own for a few seconds. We are working on getting him to sit longer. I'm hoping by his 6 month pictures he will be able to sit.

He's now getting cereal in the morning and at night. We have worked our way through all of the veggies but carrots, we'll try those tonight. Next we will move onto the fruits. I have a feeling I took longer to get through the veggies and fruits with Spencer but I guess that's one thing you do different with your 2nd.  He's still eating about 6 oz every 3-4 hours.

His sleeping has been better for the last few weeks averaging 8-11 hours a night. He takes about 3 naps a day each lasting around an hour. Usually on the days when he is at day care he comes home and falls asleep right away. It actually works for us right now because that allows me time to get dinner ready and Spencer fed before he wakes up and is hungry.

We are so blessed to have Easton a part of our family. I love the fact that I have two boys and have already witnessed the bond they are going to have as brothers. Easton loves watching Spencer and Spencer is always trying to make him laugh by making funny faces or tickling him. Spencer loves showing his brother his toys and the things he can do. Often when Spencer is mad at Ryan or I because we won't let him do something he will cry out for Easton. I know there will be days when they don't get a long, so for now I'm enjoying this time.

4th Of July!

We started the week with a visit from Grandpa John and Grandma Julie. They came up on Sunday and stayed through Monday. We had a grill out on Sunday and Easton got his first taste of squash while they were here. So far he's only had cereal but now we are introducing baby food, so far he's had squash, sweet peas and green beans. He did great eating his first baby food and Spencer enjoyed eating corn on the cob again. Monday Grandma and Grandpa kept Spencer and Easton home from school so they could spend the day together. Spencer kept Grandpa John busy by showing him all his toys and then kept Grandma Julie busy by baking muffins and cooking dinner with her.

He's looking at a tiny frog on the step.

The latest thing he took to bed, the blow up Buzz punching bag from Grandma and Grandpa

This week was theme week at day care. On Wednesday it was flag day so Spencer, Easton and I made flag cookies to take to school. Thursday was firecracker hair day. I spiked Spencer's hair in the morning and when I picked him up in the afternoon it was multi-colored. On Friday it was red, white and blue day. Spencer's class worked on flags and other red, white and blue projects and Easton got to play with red, and blue jello along with Redi whip. They told us that he liked the jello but didn't seem to like how cold it was.

Before school color free.

After school with the red, blue, and green color in his hair.

Easton and I were reading a book trying to keep it from Spencer who wouldn't listen.

We spent the 4th of July at my parent's house. We had a great weekend! The weather was nice on Saturday and we took full advantage spending most of the day outside. Ryan and I took Spencer tubing and at first he loved it and wanted to go faster but by the end of the ride he was ready to go back in. Spencer and Finley took turns jumping into the lake. Spencer and Finley also caught fish. Thanks to Uncle Tim who had caught fish earlier that day and put them back on the line for the boys to reel in. Saturday night we took the pontoon out to watch Grandpa's fireworks from the lake. Each year Grandpa's fireworks get bigger and better. We appreciate watching the fireworks every year! It was a great weekend to spend time with family and to just relax..... even though trying to keep the peace between Spencer and Finley isn't always relaxing.

Spencer drove the gator around while Grandpa picked up sticks.......

Playing in the lake......

Going tubing.....

Auntie, Uncle Tim, Shellee, Darren, Scott and Tina all bought my parents a tree in memory of Great Grandma. We thought the 4th of July would be a prefect time to plant it when everyone was here. Normally Great Grandma would have spent the day with us and watched the fire works. It was strange not having her here this year... I sure do miss her.

Cousin Shellee brought Spencer's birthday gift......

Watching fire works for the first time. Grandpa likes to go all out every year and put on a big fireworks show.  I missed out on watching Spencer's expressions cause he was on the other boat. Ryan said he really enjoyed them and kept saying "more grandpa!" Easton even tried to watch for a little bit, I think he liked all the different colors but eventually fell asleep in my arms. Thanks Grandpa for the great show!

Happy 4th of July! The weather was pretty crummy on the 4th and we spent the whole day inside being lazy! The guys managed to get a round of golf in before the rain came. It actually turned out to be an ok evening and we were able to take the boat out to see the city fireworks. Spencer made it through the start of the fireworks but eventually fell asleep.

Spencer and Finley even got to go fishing one more time after the rain.....

Ryan wore the t-shirt Easton made for him......

Watching all the fireworks can sure tire a little boy out!

Happy Birthday Finley! Auntie's boy turned 2 on July 3rd. I can't believe he's already 2 where does the time go? We celebrated with cake for all of the birthday boys. Uncle Tim's is on the 3rd and Conner's is on the 4th.  Happy Birthday!.

The birthday boys.....

Welcome baby Maddie! Our friends Jill, Cary and Gavin welcomed baby Maddie on Monday. I can't believe how little she is and how much hair she has! We are so excited for Easton to have a little girlfriend to play with!
