On Monday the boys and I were home. Spencer got to play more in his pool since it was so nice outside. We also spent the day going to the grocery store and it was my first time taking both boys by myself and it went WAY better then I thought! We also started packing for the weekend. I even told Auntie I felt like her since our bags were packed and ready to go 5 days before we were leaving!
Wednesday Easton turned 4 months old. Where is the time going? In some ways I feel like he's always been a part of our family and in other ways he's still my brand new baby. He is growing and changing so much each and every day. I was starting to wonder if he was ever going to start eating more at each feeding and go longer in between. He would eat 2-4 ounces every few hours during the day. I decided to get out the size 2 nipples and that must have been just what he needed because now he's downing 8 ounces in the morning and 5-6 every 3-4 hours during the day. He had a few nights in a row when he was getting up around 3:00ish but that to has gotten better now that he's drinking more during the day and right before bed.
I also had Spencer's parent teacher conference at daycare on Wednesday. I was anxious to hear how he has been doing and what he has been up to. She told me that he excels at his gross motor skills but he just needs a little reminder with some of his fine motor skills. The two areas that he got 3's in instead of 1's on his grades was holding his marker between his fingers when writing and coloring in straight lines instead of circles. He does great though at naming his colors and shapes. He has about 4-5 songs pretty much memorized and she said him and Sam LOVE to sing the baseball song (Take me out to the ball game) over and over again. Overall he scored very high marks and is doing really well. We are still working on the potty training but for some reason right now he has lost some intrest in going.
I dressed the boys alike for daycare!
On Friday morning we quickly packed up the car and started our drive to Madison. Our plans were to go to Madison on Friday, visit Ryan's Grandma on Saturday but she called just as we were leaving to tell us that she had come down with the flu and didn't want to get the boys sick. We totally understood but were sad that we couldn't visit her. She has yet to meet Easton and it's been awhile since she has seen Spencer. The drive down was fine and Spencer stayed awake most of the trip. We stopped in the Dells to eat and feed Easton and Spencer slept the rest of the way along with Easton. I know some people don't like the idea of DVD players in the car but for us it entertains Spencer and makes a long drive more manageable.
We headed over to Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Ron's house once we got to Madison. We said a quick hello and goodbye to Aunt Renee since she had to work that night. Easton also got a change to meet Great Grandma Jeanette! We spent the rest of the evening watching the big boys run around and we celebrated Caden's 3rd birthday!
We couldn't get Spencer or Caden to sit next to Great Grandma so Easton got her all to himself!
Our first night in the hotel couldn't have gone any better. We had the pack and play for Easton and we got a room with 2 beds. Ryan wanted to sleep with Spencer and I totally agreed knowing that little kids move ALL over the bed when sleeping! Easton slept from 9:30 pm - 5:30 am then ate and went back down until around 8:00 am and Spencer got up around 7:20 am.
Since we couldn't go visit Great Grandma Phyllis we decided to take advantage of the Madison Zoo. Aunt Rachel, Uncle Matt, Caden, Aunt Roz, Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Ron all came with. Caden had a blast showing Spencer all of his favorite spots! We were hoping that all of the walking would put Aunt Rachel into labor (she's currently 39 weeks) so she would have the baby while we were down there but no luck! Either way it was still fun to spend the day with them.
no baby yet!
This is why we love the Madison zoo! You can get so close to the animals. Don't worry there is glass between them!
Spencer took this really nice picture with Ryan.....
And then this is the only picture he would take with me all weekend....little stinker!
After a quick nap it was off to the pool to burn off some more energry. The hotel that we stay at has a great pool for little kids!
Easton was feeling left out so his Auntie took him in the water to check things out...
Saturday evening we went to a surprise party for Ginny a family friend who turned 60. A bunch of her family and friends traveled from all over to surprise her. It was such a nice night and the kids all had so much fun playing together.
Spencer and Finley taking pictures of each other. I wonder how they learned to do this?
The boys played a little bit back at the hotel before it was bed time.....
Auntie had her big race on Sunday. Easton and I got up bright and early so we could go downtown with everyone to watch her. Being down there with everyone getting ready to run makes you think for a minute that maybe you could do it also....... then the reality of it sinks in and I'm not sure I would be up for running for a few hours straight!
and their off.......
You can see Auntie just behind the lady in the pink!
here they are at mile #5....
mile #9
here comes her big finish.....
Congrats to Auntie for finishing strong. She was the 9th female in her age group out of 480, 27th woman out of 2799, and over all 122 out of 4709 runners. She finished the 1/2 marathon in 1 hour and 35 minutes! Way to go Auntie!!
